Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has shared his perspective on why many women remain unmarried in their 30s.

He believes their singleness is due to the choices they made when they were younger.

He stated that many women who remain unmarried in their 30s often spent their 20s dating older married men, while turning away young potential partners.

In a recent interview with News Central, Kanayo mentioned that young women in university, around ages 18 to 20, often start dating wealthy men who are sometimes much older. As these relationships develop and because the man is affluent and possibly married, the woman may turn down interest from younger suitors since she has received lavish gifts like cars or houses. In her view, this means she’s living at a higher status level.

Starting at 22, she moves on to 24, and even if there’s conflict with one guy, she finds another. Before long, she’s reached 25 or 26 and remains unmarried because she’s turned down proposals from younger suitors. As she approaches her late twenties—29 or 30—she has left university behind and notices that men are no longer as drawn to her as before.

At 31, she finds herself single as her husband hasn’t come along. By the time she’s 23, it seems like she’s still flexible with options. At age 28, people start to pray for her future partner. Once past 33, there’s a sense of urgency about finding someone because many believe it’s challenging to find a husband at that stage in life. Some women reach 35 without being married and may mistakenly think they are simply enjoying life when, in reality, there is an increasing desperation underlying their prayers for anyone suitable to enter their lives.
