The Kaduna State Government stated on Sunday that Nigerian Army personnel had driven back dozens of bandits, neutralized one of them, and wounded many others before they managed to flee.
While confirming this in a statement on Sunday, Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State, said the bandits attempted to invade Kankomi, in the Chikun Local Government area of the state, but the vigilant troops engaged them in a fierce battle and eventually neutralized one.
He claims that the soldiers captured the bandits’ one AK-47 gun, seven AK-47 magazines, seven rounds of ammo, and five homemade grenades.
Three villagers’ corpses were found, he continued, when the military was looking around the area.
The statement went on to say that during operations along the Gwagwada-Chikun-Sarkin Pawa axis, troops of Operation Forest Sanity neutralized one bandit and seized an AK-47 weapon, while two motorbikes were recovered from terrorists who had been flying about Kafaiyo, Dafako, Kopi, and Gadani.
He said that while expressing sympathy to the families of the deceased, Governor Nasir El-Rufai lauded the efforts of the army and asked them to continue the excellent work.
