Kaduna governor: The Supreme Court has set a date for Governor Sani to defend his election
The Kaduna State Governorship Election Tribunal has set Saturday, Aug. 5, as the date for Gov. Uba Sani, INEC, and the APC to present their case in response to a challenge filed challenging the governor’s election, according to NAN.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the March 18 governorship election in the state, Mr Muhammad Isah-Ashiru, are contesting Sani’s victory and requesting that it be declared null and void.
The petitioners filed their case on Thursday, and the tribunal, chaired by Justice Victor Oviawe, ordered the defence to file its case on Saturday and close it within the 10 days allowed by law.
Earlier, Isah-Ashiru’s lead lawyer, Mr Oluwole Iyamu, SAN, excused his last witness, an INEC officer.
He told the tribunal that the witness lacked the necessary qualifications to represent INEC in matters such as the case before the court.
