The Nigerian Air Force has announced that a well-known terrorist and kidnap kingpin, Janari, along with several members of his syndicate, were neutralized in air strikes conducted by the air component of Operation WHIRL PUNCH.

Janari and his cohorts have been responsible for numerous attacks and abductions in Kaduna State and along the Abuja-Kaduna highway. The strikes were authorized after Janari and his gang were spotted near Gadar Katako in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Further investigation revealed that they were preparing for a potential attack or kidnapping of vulnerable civilians, prompting the immediate need for an attack on their location. Intelligence gathered after the strike confirmed the elimination of Janari and several other terrorists/kidnappers.

Similar air strikes were also carried out on confirmed terrorists and kidnappers’ hideouts near Chukuba in Niger State with varying degrees of success on January 20, 2024.

The feedback received after the strikes confirmed the neutralization of the targets and the destruction of their mobility.

The Air Force spokesperson, Gabkwet, assured Nigerians that collaborative efforts between the NAF and other security agencies will persist in locations suspected of harboring terrorists and kidnappers.
