Chief of the All Progressives Congress, Osita Izunaso, claimed that the Igbos’ feelings about “marginalisation” were valid.
He advocated on Monday in Abuja for the South-East to be given the right to zone the 10th Senate Presidency, according to NAN.
Izunaso asserts that he is the best qualified candidate and that unrest in his area will abate if an Igbo is elected to chair the next Senate.
According to the lawmaker, the change would assure inclusivity and reduce support for Biafra, particularly among young people who had been “misled by separatists.”
The South-East is still the “most disadvantaged geopolitical zone since 1960,” according to the Imo West Senator-Elect.
“There is good reason for the strong Igbo feeling against political marginalisation in Nigeria.
The former APC National Organising Secretary stated that the chance to rectify the matter was provided by the 10th National Assembly.
Izunaso, 56, was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2003 and then, in 2007, to the Senate.
In addition to Rules and Business, Local and International Debts, Housing, Gas, Foreign Affairs, and Sports Development, he served as head of these committees.
