Vice President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja for Sweden on an official trip, with key diplomatic and economic engagements expected during his visit.

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, is scheduled to leave Abuja on Wednesday for a two-day official visit to Sweden. During this trip, he will represent Nigeria in important bilateral discussions.

Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President’s spokesman, stated that the visit was made at the request of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The journey is anticipated to enhance Nigeria’s global alliances and foster diplomatic relations with Sweden, concentrating on shared interests and collaboration.

“The Vice President is anticipated to return to the country on Saturday. During the visit to Sweden, they will participate in high-level bilateral discussions with prominent government officials and hold meetings with Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden as well as the Swedish Prime Minister,” he stated.

The spokesperson stated that during the Vice President’s visit to Sweden, he will seek opportunities to enhance collaboration between Nigeria and Sweden in sectors like ICT, innovation, education, digitalization, sustainable transport, mining, and agriculture.

He will also hold meetings with important stakeholders from both the government and private sector.

The Vice President “will also have a meeting with Norrsken, a venture capital impact investor based in Stockholm that recently introduced Norrsken22, a $205 million technology investment fund aimed at Africa.

Norrsken22 is a technology growth fund supported by over 30 renowned unicorn founders, collaborating with outstanding entrepreneurs to create Africa’s future tech giants.

The meeting with Norrsken will offer insights on how Nigerian entrepreneurs can leverage this fund to enhance the technology ecosystem in Nigeria.

Significantly, 40% of Norrsken22’s investments are anticipated to be directed towards Nigerian technology entrepreneurs.

According to Mr. Nkwocha, twelve Nigerian private sector companies conducting business with Sweden are independently forming a private sector bloc.

During his visit to Sweden, VP Shettima is anticipated to outline Nigeria’s economic vision and highlight the reforms being implemented by the administration to establish a business-friendly environment for investors in Nigeria.

This development coincides with the conclusion of Tinubu’s two-week trip today.

Tinubu left for the UK on October 2, 2024.
