JUST IN: Tinubu Meets with Rivers Sole Administrator

President Bola Tinubu holds a crucial meeting with the newly appointed sole administrator of Rivers State following the suspension of Governor Fubara.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is presently engaged in discussions with the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), at the State House in Abuja.
Vice Admiral Ibas, who previously served as Chief of Naval Staff, arrived at the State House at 12:50 PM for this meeting, which follows the president’s recent implementation of emergency measures in the oil-rich state.
On Tuesday evening, President Tinubu appointed Ibas to manage the affairs of Rivers State after declaring a state of emergency due to the intensification of the political crisis in the region.
As part of these emergency measures, he suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, and all elected members of the state’s House of Assembly for an initial duration of six months.
In their stead, Tinubu designated Vice Admiral Ibas as the sole administrator, tasked with overseeing governance without the authority to enact new legislation.
The President underscored the importance of maintaining an independent judiciary throughout this process.
