Abbas Balarabe, a nominee from Kaduna State who passed out during his screening on Wednesday, has been confirmed by the Senate.

The duo of Dr. Jamila Ibrahaim and Ayodele Olawande, who were proposed as Minister of Youths and Minister of State for Youths, respectively, was also confirmed by the Senate.

When the candidate who took Nasir El-Rufai’s place unexpectedly fainted during his screening on Wednesday, there was chaos earlier in the Senate.

Approximately 15 minutes into his screening before the Senate plenary, Balarabe—the second nominee to go through screening after Ibrahim—had just finished sharing his experiences.

Balarabe suddenly slumped while still seated at the podium while Kaduna South senator Sunday Katung was talking about his experience in administration.

The Kaduna lawmaker endorsed Balarabe after he presented his resume to the senators and said that his nomination has the support of the state’s three senators.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio yelled, “Bring water and sugar,” interrupting Katung. Contact Dr. Musa.

Akpabio gave the order for cameramen and reporters to stop recording and leave the Senate chamber.

Later, the candidate was brought to the National Assembly clinic.

After about a 45-minute break, the Senate reconvened and proceeded to confirm the three candidates.

President Bola Tinubu sent the names of the nominees on Tuesday, and the Senate read them.
