President Bola Tinubu departs for the United Kingdom for his annual leave, taking a break amid national duties. Get the latest updates on his itinerary and expected return.
President Bola Tinubu is set to travel to the United Kingdom for his annual leave, following his recent visit to China in September.
Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, released a statement indicating that Tinubu will use the two-week period as both a working vacation and an opportunity to reflect on his administration’s economic reforms.
The President is anticipated to return to Nigeria at the end of his leave. This announcement follows closely after he celebrated Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, during which he unveiled plans for a 30-day conference focused on incorporating youth perspectives into his administration.
Tinubu mentioned that the details for organizing the conference and choosing delegates would be finalized shortly.
“During his second Independence Day Anniversary Broadcast since taking office on May 29, 2023, he emphasized the importance of not only overcoming today’s challenges but also harnessing the creative energy of the next generation to build a better future.”
We begin today with a vision of the future we want to leave for our children, understanding that this future must be crafted by them.
In light of this, I am excited to announce the organization of a National Youth Conference. This event aims to serve as a platform for addressing the diverse challenges and opportunities faced by our young people, who make up over 60 percent of our population.
It will spark meaningful dialogue and enable our youth to take an active role in nation-building. By guaranteeing that their voices are considered in shaping the policies affecting their lives, we are paving the way for a brighter future.

“The 30-day Confab will bring together young people from across the nation to collectively create solutions for challenges in education, employment, innovation, security, and social justice.”
The structure and selection process for this conference will be developed in close collaboration with the youth via their delegates. As leaders, we must ensure that the aspirations of young people are central to our discussions during the conference.
The government will carefully examine and enact the recommendations and results from this forum, as we stay committed to our goal of creating a more inclusive, prosperous, and united Nigeria.
Tinubu also mentioned that his administration chose to reform Nigeria’s political economy and defense structure in order for the nation to thrive.
The President also praised the resilience of the Nigerian people, noting that the country has endured crises which have caused other nations to fall apart.
Tinubu expressed his administration’s commitment to defeating bandits and terrorists, enabling displaced farmers to return to their lands and enhance agricultural production, ultimately aiming to lower the skyrocketing food prices.
