In a recent development, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has given his approval for the promotion of 10,581 deserving junior officers from the Inspectorate Cadre and the Rank and File.
According to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police overseeing the Department of Finance and Administration (DIG DFA) has been assigned the responsibility of coordinating efforts with the Commissioner of Police (Welfare) to ensure a prompt commencement of the promotion process.
The promotions will involve 9,831 Police Constables being promoted to the rank of Corporal, 81 Corporals advancing to the rank of Sergeant, and 669 officers progressing from the rank of Sergeants to Inspectors.
The Inspector General of Police has emphasized the importance of timely promotions in boosting the morale of officers and enhancing the overall effectiveness of the Force. It is worth noting that these promotions will be solely based on merit, as the Force aims to foster a culture of meritocracy and career advancement.
