NYSC has cancelled the certificates of 101 individuals identified as fake graduates, addressing significant fraud in mobilization.
101 people were fraudulently recruited by the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) from the University of Calabar for national service between 2021 to 2023, according to a statement made by NYSC.
On Monday, Eddy Megwa – the Director of Information and Public Relations for NYSC – made a statement that disclosed this revelation to the public.
Ninety-nine individuals out of the total 101 were mobilized for national service, leaving only two exempted.
However, all 101 persons’ Certificates of National Service have been invalidated by NYSC and it is advised that anyone seeking to confirm authenticity should verify directly from the National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja.
The NYSC reaffirmed its steadfast dedication to upholding the credibility of the national service initiative, guaranteeing that only deserving individuals obtain Certificates of National Service.

Additionally, it reiterated that graduates from both accredited and unaccredited universities within or beyond Nigeria would not be acknowledged for their participation in national service.
The University of Calabar fraudulently mobilized a total of Ninety-Nine (99) persons and two (2) others exempted for National Service during the 2021, 2022, and 2023 NYSC Service Years. This is to inform members of the public about this statement.
The National Youth Service Corps reaffirmed its unwavering dedication to preventing unqualified Nigerian youths, both locally and foreign-trained, from being acknowledged.
This particularly includes those who allegedly completed their education in unaccredited universities. Only deserving individuals will be granted NYSC Certificates of National Service by the Management team.
All parties involved, such as Corps Employers, Government Ministries and Agencies (MDAs), Religious Organizations, Multi-National Corporations and Institutions affiliated with the NYSC are advised by the organization to take heed of this announcement.
Members of the public are likewise urged to verify claims concerning any NYSC certification or exemption/exclusion letters through contact with National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja for authenticity purposes.
