Mojisola Meranda has made history by being sworn in as the first female Speaker of Lagos State.
Meranda, the representative of the Apapa 1 state constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly, was sworn into office on Monday during a plenary session after former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa’s impeachment.
During her oath of office, Meranda declared, “I pledge to be loyal as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly and commit to performing my duties with integrity, faithfully adhering to my abilities and in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Her appointment represents a notable milestone in the state’s political scene, as she becomes the first woman to lead the House of Assembly.
