(JUST IN) Kaduna: Massive explosion has struck an Islamiyya school, causing one fatality and multiple injuries
A tragic incident occurred in Kidandan village of Giwa Local Government Area in Kaduna State, where a student from an Islamiyya school lost their life in a massive explosion. Additionally, ten other students sustained injuries as a result of the blast. The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, stated that the incident is currently under thorough investigation by the security agencies.
According to initial reports from the traditional institution and security agencies, it was revealed that one of the students, who was studying under a local cleric, unknowingly picked up an object from the bush, which later exploded among their fellow students.
As of now, one student named Zaidu Usman has been confirmed dead, while the injured students are receiving medical treatment at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Shika-Zaria.
Governor Uba Sani of the state has received the report with deep shock and sadness. He has expressed his condolences to the victims and their families, while also praying for the deceased student’s soul to rest in peace and a swift recovery for the wounded.
Furthermore, the governor has urged parents and community leaders to be more vigilant regarding the activities of their children and wards, considering their vulnerability to various dangers.
Aruwan additionally mentioned that the governor has instructed the ministry to collaborate with the security agencies in order to promptly investigate the cause of the explosion. This measure is aimed at guaranteeing the safety of the residents, coordinating emergency assistance, and providing immediate medical care to the victims.
Furthermore, Aruwan stated that the state government will duly inform the public about any updates.
