FG’s new strategy aims to resolve the crude supply dispute with Dangote Refinery. Get the latest updates on how this will impact the industry.

On Monday, the federal government took action to address the trust issues that have arisen between its regulators and Dangote Refinery – a company worth billions of dollars – regarding their crude oil supply.

The public argument reached its climax when Mr. Farouk Ahmed, the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), claimed that despite excess sulphur in its products, Dangote refinery had not yet been licensed.

He further claimed that Dangote was demanding the cessation of gasoline imports and directing all marketers to utilize his refinery.

Dangote has vehemently denied the claims.

According to a statement released by Nneamaka Okafor, the Minister’s Special Adviser for Media and Communication, Dangote along with Farouk Ahmed, Gbenga Komolafe (CEO of NUPRC), and Mele Kyari (Group CEO of NNPC) held a meeting on Monday. However, there is no information yet about what was discussed in the meeting.
