Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and has also given up on partisan politics.
This occurs one day after the All Progressives Congress, or APC, defeated the PDP in the presidential race.
Fayose made his resignation public while a guest on ARISE TV.

Also, he disclosed that PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar turned down the offer of a single term in office made in exchange for the backing of the G5 governors.
Bola Tinubu of the APC won three of the G5 governors’ races, while Obi of the Labour Party took home two. Atiku was defeated in these contests.
Fayose declared when he announced his resignation, “From now, I stay off PDP.”
