The Department of State Services (DSS) has stormed the Lagos State House of Assembly following a growing leadership crisis. Authorities are investigating the situation.

In the early hours of Monday, officers from the DSS and Nigeria Police forcefully entered the Lagos State House of Assembly premises. They sealed off offices belonging to Speaker Mojisola Meranda, her deputy, and the clerk of the house.

A strong security presence was observed at the Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday.

Officials from the Department of State Security Services, Nigeria Police Force, and Lagos State Task Force were observed stationed at the main gate of the Assembly complex to ensure adequate security.

The security tension is probably unrelated to the leadership change in the House.

In the midst of uncertainty, the Speaker of the House was greeted with cheers from fellow lawmakers upon arrival.

The lawmakers voiced their confidence in the leadership of Rt. Hon. Meranda as the House convened for plenary sessions.

More information will be provided later…
