Justice Haleemah Salman of the Kwara State High Court has imposed the death penalty by hanging on five individuals implicated in the notorious Offa bank robbery that occurred in 2018.
The court determined that the defendants were guilty of illegal possession of firearms, armed robbery, and culpable homicide, all offenses that carry the death penalty under Nigerian legislation.
The robbery, which transpired in April 2018, is regarded as one of the most brutal incidents in recent Nigerian history, resulting in the deaths of numerous police officers and civilians.
