Police officers and striking judges got into a fight on Wednesday, November 22, at the gate to the Osun State High Court in Oke-Fia, over Justice Oyebola Ojo, the chief judge who is currently under fire.

Following their picketing on Monday over accusations of haughtiness and the withholding of their wardrobe allowances, the court employees’ protest against the embattled Chief Judge persisted on Wednesday.

Tensions about Justice Ojo’s ongoing issues escalated and led to the brawl.

When the union leadership opposed Chief Justice Ojo’s return to her job, they made an effort to intimidate and remove her from office.

Tear gas was fired at the workers who tried to attack her because the security personnel escorting her refused to give up.

The judicial staff, under the leadership of Comrade Gbenga Eludire, the chairman of the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Osun State branch, moved towards the CJ’s office with the intention of forcibly removing her, but she resisted.

Over the altercation, Comrade Eludire issued an ultimatum for a strike.

Additional information to come.
