President Joe Biden released a statement in response to the shooting incident at former President Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Pennsylvania. The disruption occurred as Trump was beginning his final rally before the Republican party convention, resulting in the former president being swiftly escorted off stage by Secret Service agents.

“I have been briefed on the shooting at Donald Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania. I’m relieved to hear that he is safe and in good health. My thoughts and prayers are with him, his family, and all those present at the rally as we await further details,” Biden conveyed through a spokesperson on Sunday.

Eyewitnesses described the incident as unfolding dramatically, with reports of loud bangs resembling gunshots. Trump was observed with blood on his right ear as security personnel encircled him and promptly removed him from the stage. The Secret Service later confirmed that the “former President is secure.”

Attendee John Yeykal from Franklin, Pennsylvania, recounted the chaotic scene, noting, “We witnessed many individuals falling down, appearing bewildered. I heard the shots, which seemed like a mix of firecrackers and a small-caliber handgun.”

In his address, President Biden expressed appreciation to the Secret Service for their rapid response in ensuring Trump’s safety. He also seized the moment to urge national unity in the wake of such violence.

“Jill and I are thankful to the Secret Service for ensuring his safety. There is no room for this type of violence in America. We must come together as one nation to denounce it,” Biden emphasized.

The incident has been designated an active crime scene, with Secret Service officers instructing journalists to vacate the premises.
