Bola Tinubu, the president of Nigeria, named Mr. Desmond Akawor as a Federal Commissioner of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission on Thursday, representing Rivers State. The appointment is subject Senate approval.
According to PlatinumPost, Akawor is Nyesom Wike, the minister for the Federal Capital Territory,’s political ally.
According to a statement signed by the President’s Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Akawor was chosen “following the tragic demise of the immediate past RMAFC Federal Commissioner from Rivers State, Asondu Temple earlier this month.”

“President Tinubu authorises appointment of RMAFC Federal Commissioner” is the title of the statement.
Akawor held several positions prior to his appointment, including CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority, Executive Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (Engineering & Technical Services), Minister of State of the Federal Capital Territory, and Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Korea.
In order to guarantee the most effective and productive use of allocations to all three tiers of government in Nigeria, the President assigned the new Federal Commissioner the duty of “deploying his robust experience across tiers of government towards the comprehensive reformation of processes.”
