Jumoke George Discloses S3x Demands Led to 14-Year Break from Nollywood
Actress Jumoke George opens up about her decision to step away from Nollywood for 14 years, citing issues with industry demands. Discover her story and the impact on her career.
Renowned Nollywood actress Jumoke George has disclosed the reason behind her 14-year hiatus from the film industry.
Jumoke George shared her thoughts in an interview on Oyinmomo TV.
Discussing the challenges she encountered in her career, the actress mentioned that her dark complexion and decision not to trade sexual favors for roles contributed to her extended absence.
My dark complexion was not the only challenge I encountered in my career. For about 14 years, another reason I didn’t get movie roles was my refusal to engage in inappropriate relationships. When directors mentioned that I appeared too dark on screen, I’d suggest adjusting the lighting to enhance my appearance.
“You can’t force me to do something against my will. I intend to embrace and celebrate this skin as I age, and remember, black doesn’t crack. My challenges began when about 20 to 30 executives sought sexual favors in exchange for roles.”
I declared that as long as God exists, I would not find myself in such a situation. For three years, I didn’t receive any movie roles and couldn’t figure out why. It wasn’t until the day I ran into one of our directors at Feminine Cafe at LTV 8 that I asked him why he no longer offered me work.
He then informed me that the group of directors had decided not to offer me any roles, and I was taken aback. When I asked why, he revealed it was because I refused to sleep with them. Immediately overwhelmed with emotion, I began crying and later prayed at home for God’s guidance over the situation.
