A lawsuit to prevent Mr. Bemgba Iortyom from disguising himself as the publicity secretary of the Benue State Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, has been scheduled for hearing by a Makurdi High Court on July 11.

Judge James Shishi set the date while making a decision on an application that Mr. Terese Achir submitted to the court on Thursday.

Iortyom was suspended by the Mbagba PDP Ward Exco of the Ushongo Local Government Area in Benue State, as reported by Obasanjonews.com.

Tera Mue, the attorney for Iortyom and PDP, claimed that they were not given enough time to prepare their defence because they received the court process after it was supposed to be served.

The applicant’s attorney, C.N. Agugu, who was accompanied by E.N. Imande, stated that the defendants would not contest their application since they were entitled to a fair trial.

Due to allegations of anti-party activity and an association with elements of the Labour Party, Iortyom and the chairman of the Mbagba PDP Ward EXCO were suspended.
