A task group of judges has been assigned a lawsuit that seeks to have Kola Abiola’s candidacy for president of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) declared unlawful.
The panel of judges was assembled by Justice John Tsoho to decide all pre-election cases brought before the Federal High Court (FHC) in Abuja.
Tsoho, the Chief Judge, was installed after Justice Ahmed Mohammed began his annual leave.
Due to Justice Mohammed’s absence on Tuesday, the case could not continue.
According to the registrar, Tsoho gave the order to transfer pre-election matters now pending before the court to the register for transmission to the judicial task force.
The judges would have four weeks to decide the pre-election matters, according to the Chief Judge.
Patience Ndidi Key, a female PRP presidential candidate in the June 5 primaries, filed a lawsuit, which is currently being heard by Justice Mohammed.
The candidate is contesting Abiola’s nomination as the party’s nominee.
In an originating summons with the filing number FHC/ABJ/CS/1001/2022, Key pleaded with the court to throw out the primary.
