Christians and Muslims, who have a history of being separated due to ethno-religious differences in their communities, joined forces to campaign for a shared objective.

Plateau State has been a volatile region for religious and ethnic tensions that have divided its Christian and Muslim communities over the course of many years.

The ongoing hunger strike has brought together individuals from both religions, as they now stand shoulder to shoulder without discrimination.

A powerful moment of solidarity was witnessed at the All Airport Junction, Jos during the demonstration.

Christians created a shield of protection for their Muslim counterparts during the protest, enabling them to observe peaceful Jumma’at prayers without any disturbance.

After the prayers, Solomon Dalung, who was formerly a Minister of Youth and Sport as well as one of the organizers of the protest, spoke to rally attendees.

He urged Christians and Muslims to persistently collaborate towards their common objectives, highlighting that authentic growth is solely attainable through reciprocal acceptance and teamwork.

Dalung said that Nigerians, including President Tinubu, should take note that the people of Plateau have demonstrated to the nation that peaceful coexistence is achievable.

He added that politicians who exploit religious and ethnic differences for personal gain had been shamed by their example. Therefore, other Nigerians are advised to follow in the footsteps of these remarkable individuals from Plateau State.

Also addressing the protesters was Isa EL-Buba, who echoed Dalung’s views. He is the President of EL-Buba Outreach Ministries International.

EL-Buba encouraged the younger generation to come together and focus on their future, particularly by working hand in hand to overcome mutual struggles such as hunger and insecurity. He emphasized that the protest was not meant for any specific religion but rather an issue affecting everyone.

Plateau’s protest now serves as a beacon of optimism, demonstrating the promise of harmony and nonviolent cohabitation in a nation frequently split by religious affiliations or ethnic identities.
