Three alleged political goons were slain by the Joint Security Operation in Anyigba, the Eastern Senatorial District of Kogi State, barely four days before the governorship election.
This was revealed in a statement released on Tuesday by SP William Ovye Aya, the Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer.
According to Aya, the security personnel also took two AK-47 firearms out of the alleged thugs.

Aya stated that two team members were shot, and seven suspects were taken into custody during the operation, which involved members of the Nigeria Police, Department of State Security, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on a building where political thugs are being housed by political parties.
“Even after identifying themselves, the Team came under serious gunfire during the Cordon and Search Operation. In response, three political thugs were shot and killed, two AK-47 rifles were found, two team members were injured by gunfire, and seven suspects were taken into custody,” the statement partially states.
In order to prevent safe havens for suspected criminals and thugs to operate from, raids on their suspected hideouts will continue in order to ensure a peaceful election in the state. Please be patient while we continue this procedure until after the election.
