In a coordinated security effort, two suspected kidnappers were arrested during a joint operation. Authorities are continuing their investigations into the case, which highlights ongoing efforts to curb kidnapping in the region.

In a successful collaborative effort between the police and local vigilantes, two individuals suspected of kidnapping were apprehended in the Ibobo-Abocho community within Dekina Local Government Area, Kogi State.

The suspects, Umoru Garuba and Salifu Ademu, were captured on Tuesday at approximately 2 p.m. following a coordinated pursuit.

Reports indicate that the two men had been terrorizing the community for months, causing fear among the residents.

Unfortunately for them, their luck ran out when locals discovered their usual hideout and raised the alarm. The prompt action of village vigilantes, combined with the Police Quick Response Unit, resulted in their arrest following a high-speed chase.

The arrest has provided a sense of relief to the Ibobo-Abocho community, as the suspects were reportedly involved in multiple kidnappings and other criminal activities in the area.

Salami Abdullahi, a local resident and community policing member, stated, “For months, the criminals have besieged Ibobo community in Biraidu district of Dekina local government area, making life challenging for everyone.”

On Tuesday, following a tip-off from local villagers, members of the Kogi State vigilante and the Quick Response Unit of the state police command conducted a joint operation that led to the capture of two criminals while others managed to escape.

The suspects were reportedly turned over to the police in Anyigba.
