Johannesburg fire claims more than 70 lives

In the heart of Johannesburg, South Africa, a building fire left at least 58 people dead and 43 more hurt.

Robert Mulaudzi, a spokesman for Emergency Services, announced the dead toll on X, formerly known as Twitter, and stated that continued search and rescue operations were taking place.

A multi-story building that Mulaudzi claimed was being utilised as an informal settlement caught fire before morning.
