Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu has expressed his condolences over the tragic death of Nollywood actor, Obumneme Odonwodo, popularly known as Jnr. Pope, stating that the state has lost one of its talented individuals.
In a statement released by the State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Aka Eze Aka, the governor emphasized that Jnr. Pope’s passing is particularly disheartening as Enugu State is currently focused on nurturing the creative potential of its youth for self-sufficiency.
The governor further revealed that Jnr. Pope, along with three of his colleagues, lost their lives in a devastating boat accident on the River Niger while returning from a movie shoot.
Governor Mbah described the actor’s death as tragic and unfortunate, expressing his deep sadness upon receiving the news.

He lamented the fact that such talented young Nigerians could meet such a fate and extended his sympathies to the families of the deceased, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), and the entire Nollywood industry.
The governor assured that the state government would collaborate with the family to ensure a dignified burial for the late movie icon.
Additionally, he announced the opening of a condolence register for Nigerians to pay their respects to the fallen Nollywood star.
