Tsoho Garba, the Labour Party’s nominee for governor of Jigawa State, and all of the party’s candidates for the National Assembly have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This was confirmed on Saturday by Tsoho Garba during a meeting with APC stakeholders in Dutse, the state’s capital.
He said that practically every other party official in the state’s 27 local government areas, including the state LP chairman, had also joined the mass exodus to the APC.
In recognition of the enormous strides Governor Badaru Abubakar has made in the state, Tsoho claimed they have decided to abandon their candidature and their party in favour of the APC.
“People asked us to run under the Labour Party, but throughout our campaigning trip across the state, we all learned how the APC government transformed the state through initiatives and programmes that directly affect the average citizen.”

“There is no question that Jigawa requires continuity if we are to advance our state, and the wisest course of action is to let the APC continue to lead the charge so as to stay on the main path.”
Therefore, starting today, all of us and our political friends have endorsed the APC, and we promise to campaign for its victory in the upcoming general election at the federal and state levels.
In welcoming the defectors, Governor Badaru Abubakar praised their dedication to the advancement of the state and vowed to grant them all the privileges enjoyed by the party’s founding members.
