Two motorcycle robbery gangs that had been robbing people of their possessions have been busted by the police in Jigawa State.

The event was confirmed by the command’s spokesman, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, in a statement provided to OBASANJONEWS24.

He said that the arrest came as a result of the command’s stepped-up efforts to reduce motorcycle robberies and other criminal activity in the state.

According to OBASANJONEWS24, armed motorcycle robberies have increased in various regions of the state, killing or injuring the owners.

In two separate operations in the local governments of Ringim and Dutse, he claimed, suspects were apprehended.

“On September 7, 2023, at around 2:00 p.m., Ashiru Musa, 24, of Kyaran Village, Dutse LGA, stated that some thieves had stolen his motorcycle while posing as passengers.

“The cyclists forced him to stop, threatened him with knives, and robbed him of his red Boxer motorcycle with reg no. AYE 918 UP Ogun State,” he claimed.

The patrol unit assigned to Fanisau Division quickly sprang into action after receiving the information, according to Adam, and detained Baballe Abdulrahman, 25, and Tijjani Haruna, 19, both of Gyabiya Village Dutse LGA.

He stated that following a tip-off, police and neighborhood watch members in Ringim local government detained the other three suspects, Ahmadu Audu, Shuaibu Bayeri, and Samaila Musa.
