Jigawa community defeats robbery attempt and makes one arrest

Angering residents of Tage village in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area, Jigawa State, nearly killed a group of armed bandits.

A resident told OBASANJO NEWS24 that a group of armed robbers blocked the Hadejia highway on Monday, which is when the event occurred.

He claimed that locals from Tage village and the surrounding area assembled and fought the thugs.

He claimed that as the other criminals fled, they inflicted one with severe matchet cuts.

The event was confirmed by DSP. Lawan Shiisu Adam, a police spokesman.

He claimed that authorities were informed that an armed robbery group had blocked the Tage to Hadejia route and was robbing individuals of their possessions.

He claimed that when police were called to the location, they discovered that a crowd of villagers had assembled to confront the criminals and had managed to seriously slash one of the robbers, Abdullahi Abubakar of Hago village.

According to Shiisu, the police saved the injured thief and transported him to General Hospital Kafin Hausa for medical attention.

He claimed the suspect was found to have thirty-seven thousand naira (N37,000.00k), one spent cartridge, and life ammo.

He further stated that a probe was being conducted to apprehend the other accused.
