Governor Namadi’s latest political appointments have sparked discontent among Jigawa APC members, leading to internal tensions within the party.
The political appointments made by Governor Umar Namadi in Jigawa State are causing increasing dissatisfaction among certain stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The governor is being accused of appointing incompetent individuals to positions.
Musbahu Jamilu Dantaura, a notable member of the state’s APC party has raised concerns and expressed disapproval regarding the governor’s numerous political appointees’ competence.
During a radio program, Dantaura claimed that 70 percent of the appointed individuals are unskilled and could potentially place the party’s prospects for the 2027 elections at risk.
He contended that a considerable number of the officials appointed do not possess sufficient experience and expertise to make meaningful contributions towards the governance of their state.

Dantaura stressed the importance of Governor Namadi reviewing his appointments and selecting individuals who possess a more profound comprehension of the state’s political environment, as well as an unwavering dedication to the welfare of its inhabitants.
There is a rising dissatisfaction among APC followers who believe that certain commissioners and appointees have ignored them, which has led to criticism.
While a few commissioners and special advisers have been commended for their past work, others have criticized the appointments as “ridiculous”.
Namadi asserts that his appointments promote inclusivity in governance, although Dantaura and other stakeholders advocate for prioritizing competence and experience to ensure competent governance while maintaining the party’s credibility.
The Governor’s spokesman, Hamisu Gumel, stated that various factors were taken into account when appointing candidates in response to the mentioned accusations.
“He stated that, in addition to evaluating competence, the Governor considered political factors such as constituency representation and government influence when assessing a person.”
According to Gumel, individuals appointed by the governor possess essential qualities such as strong moral character, a solid political background and government experience, exemplary behavior driven by religious principles, and wise decision-making abilities.
