Jega Mourns His Mother’s Death in Abuja

Former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega

Jega’s mother has passed away in Abuja, marking a personal loss for the former INEC chairman.

The demise of Hauwa Jega, mother to Professor Attahiru Jega – the previous Chairman of Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has occurred.

It was reported that she succumbed to a brief illness and passed away on Friday night in Abuja.

This Saturday at 1:30 pm, the funeral prayer for Hauwa is scheduled to be held at the National Mosque in Abuja, as disclosed by a relative.

Immediately after the prayers at Gudu Cemetery, Abuja, her interment is set to take place.

Hauwa’s demise has resulted in a significant loss for her extensive family, comprised of multiple children and grandchildren.

Among them are Mahmud Jega – an acclaimed journalist and widely syndicated columnist – as well as Abbas Jega, former Executive Director at AMCON (Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria), alongside several others who will also forever cherish Hauwa’s memory.
