Prof. Attahiru Jega, a former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, a spokesman for the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), have backed Kola Abiola as the PRP’s presidential candidate for the 2023 election.
The two gave their support after the party’s ‘Manifesto Debate and Mobilization Drive’ program was unveiled on Saturday in Abuja.
Regarding the PRP manifesto, Jega stated that the party was more than capable of producing the following group of leaders who could revive the nation.
“We have faith in the principles of our party, the PRP. It is a party that values its supporters and has candidates qualified for political posts who are devoted, unselfish, and competent. That is what Nigeria needs right now to bring about significant changes, he said reporters after the manifesto was unveiled.
Baba-Ahmed said that the late MKO Abiola’s son has the skills and expertise necessary to lead the PRP into the presidential villa in 2023 while also drumming up support for him.
The NEF spokesman urged party members and candidates to put in a lot of effort and make sure they take every open seat in the legislature in the election the next year.
We joined the PRP because we believe it has the potential to win the next election for president and build the next government. We know that the opposition is not superior to us because we have the people and the ideas.
We actually have the strongest team for the governorship candidates, the vice presidential candidate, and the presidential candidate.
And we’re pleading with them to grab our flag and bring us to the Villa. If we lose this election, it won’t be because the opposition is superior to us or because Nigerians choose money politics over the ones we practice.
“It’s because we didn’t put in enough effort. Inform your group that winning is our only goal. We intend to create the administration in 2023, according to Baba-Ahmed.
