Given the low candidate turnout, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, or JAMB, claims that the creation of extra registration points for prospective 2024 Direct Entry (DE) applicants was essentially superfluous.
To accommodate the 2024 Direct Entry (DE) candidates, the examination organisation set up additional registration stations outside of the Professional Registration Centres (PRCs) in Lagos, Kwara, Osun, and Ogun States.
But according to a statement released on Wednesday by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s spokesman, attendance at the additional registration locations was minimal.
He stated that the great majority of potential DE candidates had already finished their registration at the additional centres, which were established at JKK Lagos, JAMB PRC Ikoyi, and Ogba, Ikeja in Lagos, to make sure that every qualified candidate registers.
Benjamin claims that some of the centres saw less than ten candidates every day even though they were able to process over 100.
Even though the number of eligible candidates was minimal, JAMB encouraged those who still had the chance to register because there would be no more extensions.
The Board declared that no requests for more time will be granted, and that the extra registration points will be available until Monday, June 17, 2024, when the exercise ends.
The exams for the 2024 Supplementary UTME will now take place on Friday, June 21, and Saturday, June 22, 2024, thus candidates scheduled for the exam should be aware of this.
