Jadon Sancho is poised to make a comeback to the Manchester United squad after engaging in discussions with manager Erik ten Hag, as per a source informed ESPN.
Sancho has been absent from United’s lineup since August, when he openly criticized the Dutchman on social media.
He had a loan spell at his former club Borussia Dortmund during the latter part of the previous season, even making it to the Champions League final.
Following a meeting with Ten Hag this week, Sancho has rejoined the first-team training sessions.
Although he won’t be part of the squad traveling to Norway for the pre-season friendly against Rosenborg on Monday, he will be considered for future selections.
United is scheduled to play against Rangers at Murrayfield on July 20 before embarking on a three-match tour in the U.S. on July 24.
Sancho was excluded from the squad after insinuating that Ten Hag had been dishonest about the reasons for dropping him in a match against Arsenal.
Ten Hag had made it clear that Sancho would only be allowed back after an apology. However, United has not disclosed whether Sancho apologized during their recent meeting.
The club has been open to offers for Sancho this summer, with Juventus showing interest, but the valuation of £40 million ($51.9 million) has posed challenges.
A statement released on the club’s website confirmed Sancho’s return for testing after his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, with the 24-year-old forward participating in training with the team.
Additionally, United announced the signing of 36-year-old defender Jonny Evans earlier on Friday.
