I’ve Told Tinubu I Don’t Want a Position in His Future Government – El-Rufai

Former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai says he has informed President Tinubu that he is not interested in any role in his future administration.

Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, has reaffirmed his decision not to serve in President Bola Tinubu’s administration and emphasized that he has already communicated this to the president.

El-Rufai revealed this information in a post on his X account while replying to comments from presidential aide Daniel Bwala, who had criticized El-Rufai’s recent statements about the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He stated, “Good morning, @BwalaDaniel. I was a cabinet minister 22 years ago and made it clear to Asiwaju that I’m not interested in any role in his future government. The way all of you recent converts to the Tinubu administration make an issue out of something I’ve never wanted is likely a reflection of your moral flexibility.”

If I had stayed with the Tinubu government, my response to the tragedy within a party that I helped establish—and its ensuing administration—would be unchanged. Initially, I’d address those involved in private meetings and go public only if no corrective measures were taken. You can review my record of public service since 1998 for verification.

I’m responding to you because I believe you’re a decent person who might be in need of work, and not like Wendell Simlin or the figure from Kaduna whom voters retired in 2019. These individuals act as political mercenaries, receiving substantial monthly payments to quickly defend all actions of the Asiwaju government on X and other platforms, regardless of how indefensible those actions may seem.

Enjoy your special adviser role, my brother. But always remember that loyalty to God and country should take precedence over any individual or authority in terms of accountability.

PlatinumPost remembers that El-Rufai was originally chosen for a ministerial role by President Tinubu in 2023, but the Senate later dismissed him due to reported national security issues.
