Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has promised the state’s citizens that his victory at the governorship election tribunal will motivate him to serve them with greater fire and passion out of gratitude.
This is despite the fact that he stated he never felt even the slightest amount of worry regarding the legal challenges to his election victory on March 18, 2023.
This was mentioned by Otti in a statement he sent after the Umuahia election petition tribunal dismissed the petitions Okey Ahaiwe and Ikechi Emenike, candidates for the PDP and APC, had filed against him.
In his statement, Otti said, “Even though we never entertained any atom of fear over the suit filed against us, going by the landslide victory we recorded at the polls, coupled with the sound submissions made by our team of erudite lawyers to defend our victory, I was, however, moved by the unprecedented show of love, support, and solidarity from our people which is a manifestation of their love for us.”
Otti also expressed his gratitude to the judges for their fair rulings, which he claimed accurately represented the results of the election and what the majority of people actually desired. Otti argued that nothing enriches the body of legal doctrine and strengthens democracy like delivering justice to those who deserve it.
He urged his opponents to cooperate with him in working for the advancement of the state and to accept the verdict with humility and composure.
In addition, the governor of Abia State pledged to work for all Abia residents’ general welfare, regardless of political affiliation.
