President Bola Tinubu has counselled Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for 2023, to give up on his dream of becoming president of Nigeria.

In response to Atiku’s assertion that Nigeria is doomed after the Supreme Court rejected his petitions, Tinubu made the statement.

He asserted that while Atiku’s bid for president is doomed, Nigeria is making progress towards realising its destiny.

Tinubu stated: “We want to tell Alhaji Atiku this: Nigeria is not doomed” in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy. The only thing fatal about Atiku is his excessive drive to become president. Under the direction of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria is making progress and is poised to fulfil its destiny of becoming one of the most renowned and prosperous countries in the world.

“We are happy to inform the world that our democracy is thriving and flowering, in contrast to Atiku’s depressing comment on our democracy. It is the reason that, unlike in the past when just two parties dominated the national parliament, the nature of our National Assembly and its outlook for the first time since 1999 reflects the diversity and plurality of the choices and preferences of voters as a rainbow coalition of different parties.

“Votes matter in Nigeria now. No amount of Alhaji Atiku and Peter Obi’s willful falsification of the truth regarding our most recent election will undermine the ongoing enhancement of our electoral system, which has been praised by both domestic and foreign observers. The Supreme Court stated that IReV was not intended to be an online collection hub. It served just as a public viewing area for the results.

“We wish to advise Atiku that he must now end his unprofitable bid and move away from any venture that will further pollute the political atmosphere and national harmony after over three decades of elusive bids for the Presidency of Nigeria.”
