At the age of 59, Salvatore Schillaci, who used to be a striker for Italy, has passed away.
At the 1990 World Cup, Toto or Schillaci emerged as the leading scorer with a total of six goals.
Despite losing in the semi-finals, he earned hero status by receiving the Golden Ball for being recognized as the best player.
Schillaci received a diagnosis of colon cancer in the year 2022.

Last week, he was admitted to a hospital in Palermo and on Wednesday morning, his passing away was declared.
In 1989, Schillaci joined Juventus and the club expressed their admiration for him by saying: “Toto won our hearts instantly with his fervent desire and captivating journey. His passion was evident in every match he played”.
“Before the sensational summer of 1990, when Italy couldn’t help but be charmed by his exuberant displays, we were fortunate enough to already hold an eager admiration for him at Juve.”
