Tyla recently stated, “My parents weren’t really strict on what I’m doing, but they were strict in terms of me going to the studio than getting a job,” in an interview with Power 106 FM in Los Angeles, California. They remarked, “Music is not a profession.” that it’s a pastime.
I had to tell them that I wanted to do this every single day, literally crying. I have nothing else I would like to do. It was challenging to persuade them. It’s also not something that happens to us in South Africa. I know a lot of ladies who had aspirations of being musicians but didn’t get the chance to pursue them. My parents were merely attempting to shield me, which is understandable, but I made it clear to them that I want to pursue my musical career.
