Abuja—Nyesom Wike’s removal from the party was a mission that had to be completed for the party to survive, according to Dr. Don Pedro Obaseki, director of research, strategy, and documentation for Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate for president in 2023.

He asserted that Wike should be fired for his calls for the suspension or expulsion of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, his numerous virtuperations against the party, and his ongoing betrayals.

Wike, who served as governor of Rivers State prior to being appointed as a minister, was involved in the majority, if not all, of the PDP’s internal conflicts, according to Obaseki, who made this claim in an interview with journalists yesterday in Abuja. This was due to Wike’s excessive desire to run for president of the PDP.

He observed that since Wike’s plotting, which began with his backing of Uche Secondus for the party chairmanship and concluded in his failure in the PDP presidential primary, the politician has been inconsolable.

Wike was (or is) the PDP’s issue, and the PDP is now responsible for removing Wike, according to Obaseki.

In response to Wike’s demand that Atiku be expelled from the PDP, Obaseki stated: “The man who is advocating for the expulsion of others from the party deserves to be dismissed from the party.

Wike is the one who founded the G-5, a cult that exists within the party. He ran an anti-party campaign in defiance of the party’s will, bylaws, and organisational structures.

“Nyesom Wike is the one who has done anything anti-party. He’s battled every known member of the group.

“Recall that former Zamfara State governor Bello Matawalle described him as the reason the party split. He was stated by Dave Umahi as the reason he left the gathering.

He was mentioned by Professor Ben Ayade as the reason he left the gathering. Why has Nyesom Wike evolved into the infamous “tortoise in every bad story” in the wake of his actions?

“Wike has crossed the line, and he must now be prepared. We are going after him like a tonne of bricks, but he has all the money to fight us back.

He has let loose the war dogs, and we won’t stand by and let him treat the party and the majority of Nigerians with the same savagery that he treated the humility of the Rivers people for eight years. That is no longer adequate.

Atiku. Nyesom Wike refused to accept my proposal when I made it to the governors in Asaba in December 2021 because he wanted the primaries to be open.

He wasn’t campaigning, but I was. The South-East and the North-East were the only regions outside of the South-East, which had General Aguiyi Ironsi’s six-month sabbatical, that had not ruled our nation since January 15, 1966.

“Wike has no moral right to seek to run for president while the immediate Southern president and the last president of the PDP were from the same old Rivers State with him,” the statement read. “Wike, knowing that he’s just less than 106km away from Otuoke in the home state of Jonathan. In an effort to set the stage for his potential run, Wike was fighting for a cause that was for himself.

He said that because Nigerians deserved better, the fight to retrieve the party’s stolen mandate, which had gone to the Supreme Court, will be taken to its natural end.
