According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) is planning to launch an online radio station called “Radio Raeed” as part of its propaganda channels.
The purpose of this move is likely to attract more individuals from the North East region to join the terrorist organization.
The radio service, located in Kangarawa, will support the Islamic State and provide weekly news propaganda summaries in Hausa, Arabic, and Kanuri languages.
This development highlights the insurgency’s ability to adapt and utilize various propaganda methods, signaling to authorities in the sub-region that the recruitment pace of the insurgency has not been effectively halted.
Online media propaganda plays a crucial role in maintaining the visibility of terrorist groups and sustaining their presence. The intense propaganda efforts aim to draw attention, recruit fighters, support affiliated groups, and provide directives for attacks.
It is essential to continue efforts in information operations (INFO OPs) to dismantle notorious terrorist websites and strengthen the network of affiliated group members.
