As brave officers and soldiers of the 21 Armored Brigade defeated ISWAP terrorists in the Sambisa forest in Borno State, the troops of Operation Hadin Kai have continued their successes by recovering a sizable stockpile of weapons and ammunition.
Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region, was informed by reliable sources that the terrorist group’s hidden dug pits had substantial numbers of weaponry that were later found.
During an intense counterterrorism operation on May 13, 2023, the military allegedly found the vast armory when they attacked the Ukuba camp on the outskirts of the Bama Local Government Area.
According to the sources, 50 hand grenade bombs, 5 SMK bombs, SMG rifles, double barrel guns, and several variations of rocket-propelled grenade tubes were also found.
183 Shilka rounds, several IED-making supplies, non-electric detonators, numerous IEDs that had already been manufactured, and several canister bombs are just a few of the additional items that have been found.
As ground and air support continued to maintain pressure on the terrorists, killing scores of them while forcing many others to flee, reports also indicated that troops of Operation DESERT – LAKE – MOUNTAIN II, who began a special on 27 April 23, are making steady progress along the Sambisa – Timbuktu Triangle axis, as well as shores of the Lake Chad.
Recently, terrorist hideouts at Garno, Alafa, Alafa D, Garin Doctor, Njumia, Izzah, Farisu, Somalia, Ukuba, Garin Glucose, Garin Ba’aba, and Bula Abu Amir were cleared.
