In the early hours of Saturday, Geidam town in Yobe State was subjected to a deadly attack by militants from the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), resulting in one resident’s death and widespread destruction, according to multiple sources.
The attack commenced at approximately 3:30 am as the insurgents swept through the town, launching explosives without discrimination and instilling fear among residents.

Counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama received information from intelligence sources indicating that the attackers set fire to two vehicles owned by Nigerian Customs officials and destroyed various properties.
The grave of Khalifah Ayiloma in Kolori Ward was reportedly desecrated by the militants, who set fire to the gravesite.
They also targeted the home of Dahiru Muhammadu, a 60-year-old night watchman working near Geidam Polytechnic. Muhammadu suffered a gunshot wound to the neck and was taken to Geidam Specialist Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
