With regard to captured troops and civilians, it is well known that the Israeli army adheres to a contentious policy known as the “Hannibal Doctrine.” After the Israeli army was repeatedly taken prisoner in Lebanon by resistance organisations, forcing Israel to engage in prisoner exchanges, it was first implemented in 1986.
An excerpt from the doctrine, which was shared in 2014 by Israeli groups, reads, “During a kidnapping, the main task becomes to rescue our soldiers from the abductors, even at the cost of harming or injuring our soldiers.” The complete text of the doctrine was published in 2003.
According to the besieged territory’s health ministry, Israeli bombing in Gaza has resulted in 1,537 Palestinian deaths and 6,612 injuries. 500 kids are among the dead.
