The Nigerian Senate demanded on Tuesday that Israel and Palestine cease their hostilities, particularly in Gaza.
A cease-fire between Israel and Hamas was another demand made by the MPs to the Nigerian government to cooperate with other nations.

After Mohammed Aliero (PDP, Kebbi Central) and Kawu Sumaila (NNPP, Kano South) co-sponsored the motion, the resolution was adopted at the plenary session.
During the motion’s presentation, Mr. Aliero urged the Senate to urge Nigeria’s administration to back a two-state solution as a long-term resolution to the Israel-Palestine conflict.
The proposal was approved by a voice vote with the support of most senators.
The national assembly clerk was then instructed to forward the senate’s resolutions to the president by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who had approved the prayers that followed.
Although it gives it more bite, the Senate’s resolution does not alter the government of Nigeria’s current stance.
Remember that during the UN General Assembly, Nigeria voted along with 119 other nations in favour of a humanitarian truce in Gaza, where Israeli airstrikes had claimed over 10,000 lives, including over 3,000 of children.
After 1,400 Israelis were killed in an attack on Israel on October 7 by Hamas militants, Israel launched an offensive in Gaza.
As appeals for a two-state solution grow throughout the world, the recent conflict between Israel and Palestine is added to earlier ones.
