President Recep Tayyip claims that “before it’s too late,” the world needs to know the truth.

According to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey would request international inspectors to ascertain whether Israel possesses nuclear weapons. This was declared on Saturday.

The Turkish leader told reporters during a trip home from Germany that Israel is one of the very few nations not a signatory to the 1968 Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.

Erdogan declared that Ankara will request that the International Atomic Energy Agency look into the possibility of a nuclear weapons stockpile held by the Jewish state.

“Progressing with this is crucial for maintaining a balance among strategic interests in the area. We’ll keep applying pressure [to Israel],” Erdogan declared. It is imperative to conduct a thorough inspection of Israel’s nuclear weapons before it is too late. We’ll see this through to the end. I also implore the world community to take this seriously.

Israel does not formally acknowledge or refute the existence of its covert nuclear weapons programme, despite the fact that experts generally agree that it exists. This month, Heritage Minister Amihai Eliyahu’s suggestion to launch a “nuclear bomb” on the Gaza Strip sparked indignation around the Muslim world. After the minister made provocative remarks, Prime Minister Benjamin Netahyau barred him from cabinet sessions.

Erdogan has publicly denounced Israel for its actions in Gaza, calling it a “terror state” and charging the IDF with war crimes against the Palestinian people. In response, Netanyahu charged that the president of Turkey was endorsing “the terrorist state of Hamas.”

On October 7, Palestinian militants attacked Israeli neighbourhoods, killing almost 1,200 people—mostly civilians—and kidnapping over 200 more. This marked the beginning of the current round of hostilities between Israel and Hamas. Israel retaliated by invading Gaza on foot and using air power. Local officials report that the bombing has killed around 12,000 Gazans.
