Israel conducted airstrike deep inside Lebanese territory, targeting Hezbollah positions across the country amidst escalating tensions following Iran’s attack on Israel over the weekend.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) shared footage of the attacks on its Telegram channel, showing fighter jets hitting a significant Hezbollah weapons manufacturing site near the Syrian border in Nabi Chit. Additionally, the IDF reported bombing several military structures owned by Hezbollah in Jbaa, southern Lebanon, as well as the group’s infrastructure and outposts in various other locations.
The attacks were in response to missiles fired from Lebanon towards northern Israel overnight, specifically in Kfar Blum and Hanita, with no injuries reported.
Hezbollah had previously admitted to participating in the Iranian drone and missile attack on Israel and had launched airstrikes on the occupied Golan Heights.
This was in retaliation for an airstrike on Iran’s consulate in Damascus earlier in the month, which Iran blamed on Israel. Hezbollah, backed by Iran, has been engaged in frequent clashes with Israeli forces since the beginning of the Israeli-Hamas conflict in Gaza last October.
The ongoing hostilities have resulted in the deaths of at least 363 individuals in Lebanon, including 70 civilians, and the displacement of tens of thousands of people along the Israeli-Lebanese border.
Hezbollah has stated that it will only cease its attacks on Israel once a ceasefire is achieved in Gaza, highlighting that its actions are primarily in support of the Palestinian cause.
