Israel is weighing the option of a preemptive strike on Iran, according to recent media reports. Learn more about the possible implications.

If there is conclusive intelligence indicating that Tehran plans to launch an attack, top officials believe the move could be warranted.

According to local media reports on Monday, Israel may conduct a “preemptive strike” against Iran if it receives intelligence indicating that Tehran is preparing to retaliate for the killing of Hamas and Hezbollah leaders.

As per the Times of Israel, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant along with Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, Mossad head David Barnea and Ronen Bar- chief of internal intelligence service held a high-level meeting on Sunday night where this option was deliberated.

According to Ynet, Israel may authorize a preemptive strike if it obtains decisive intelligence from sources such as the US that indicates Tehran is preparing an assault. Additionally, high-ranking Israeli authorities have stated that their nation is capable of enduring an Iranian attack and neither party desires a comprehensive regional conflict.

There is currently a high-level meeting taking place due to reports indicating that Iran may plan to launch an attack against Israel on Monday. This attack has been described as potentially more powerful than the April raid involving hundreds of drones and missiles launched by Iran, possibly including Iranian long-range assets and Hezbollah forces in Lebanon. Axios reported this information and stated it was confirmed by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken during discussions with his G7 counterparts.

The accusation of Iran against Israel for the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in a bombing in Tehran has led to increased tensions. Though West Jerusalem did not confirm or deny any involvement, it accepted responsibility for eliminating Hezbollah leader Fouad Shukr in Beirut due to his alleged role in an attack on a soccer field situated at Golan Heights that caused the death of 12 minor individuals.

According to sources cited by the Wall Street Journal, the US has requested its allies advise Iran against further exacerbating an already strained situation in the Middle East. The article suggests that refraining from hostile action could potentially smooth relations with Western countries, while any aggressive move may lead to severe repercussions.

According to reports, Iran has informed Arab diplomats that it is indifferent towards triggering a war despite previous diplomatic attempts failing.
